Though born in Washington, D.C., Gabriel grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Hyattsville, Maryland.

6. Has a Bachelor's Degree in Animal Science

Gabriel received a bachelor's degree in animal science from Iowa State University in 2002. Certainly, it shows her curiosity and love for animals. 

While she could have easily opted for a career in veterinary, she chose to pursue her varied interests that just make her so relatable yet unquestionably unique.

5. She is a Trained Dancer 

After getting a degree from Iowa, Gabriel moved to Chicago to pursue another interest, dancing. Betty's passion led her to Chicago, where she eventually joined the Chicago theater community, studying modern dance. 

At this time around, she also worked as an actress, first as part of her further studies, and later in various productions. 

4. Received Graduate Diploma in Drama

While Gabriel had already done theatre works as a student at Iowa State, she gained experience in acting and dancing career after she relocated to Chicago.

She went on to perform in reputable theaters such as Steppenwolf and Victory Gardens Gabriel. Having decided of building a career in the entertainment industry, Gabriel earned a graduate diploma in drama from Juilliard school in 2014. 

3. Appeared in the Second Season of Westworld

Gabriel played as Mailing in Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy's critically acclaimed science fiction television series Westworld.

She first appeared in the episode Journey Into Night, which is the second season premiere and eleventh episode of the show. It aired on April 22, 2018. 

Gabriel's character has a background of that of either military or law enforcement; it is unclear in the show. She later becomes a military contractor. 

2. Auditioned For the Role of Get Out While on Vacation 

Gabriel garnered critics and audience praise after she gave a terrific performance as Georgina / Marianne Armitage in the commercially successful horror film Get Out. 

But she didn't go for a usual face-to-face audition to grab the role. She sent the tape from the mountains of Cusco, Peru, as she had been invited for the part while she was on vacation.

Gabriel earned a nomination from five different award show, among which she won the Invisible Woman Award. 

She became featured in the Variety and The New York Times article for the potential candidate in the category of best supporting actress for the 2018 Academy Awards.

Moreover, she also tried to learn more about the racial tensions from her grandmother to perfect the performance. No wonder she is cited as the contender for Academy award.

Betty Gabriel will play as Paula Duffy in the upcoming crime drama television miniseries Defending Jacob. The miniseries will premiere April 24, 2020, via Apple TV+.
