Felipe Esparza is a Mexican-American actor and stand-up comedian. Born on June 11, 1976, in Sinaloa, Mexico, the 43-year-old won the seventh season of Last Comic Standing, beating out a field of 35 hopefuls.

He has been a fixture of television, appearing in such shows as The Shop, Campus Law, and Superstore. On the big screens, he credits include El matador, The Deported, I’m Not Like That No More, and The Taco Shop.

He recently played Crazy Dave in the Netflix original series, Gentefied

7. Plays Crazy Dave in Gentefied

Most recently, Esparza plays Crazy Dave in the Netflix original comedy series, Gentefied. Centered around the lives of three Latin-American cousins who have to learn to co-exist to keep their grandfather's taco shop from closing down as the neighborhood gets more gentrified.

The series premiered on Netflix on February 21, 2020, and starred Joaquín Cosio, Karrie Martin, J.J. Soria, Carlos Santos, and Greg Ellis, among others.   

6. Married since 2014 to Lesa O'Daniel  

Esparza has been married since 2014 to Lesa O'Daniel. They tied the knot on December 13, 2014 (12/13/14).

Esparza has four children from his previous relationships, although he has managed to shield them from the rigors of the spotlight.

Since 2014, Esparza has hosted the weekly podcast, What's Up Fool?

Esparza is the winner of the seventh season of the NBC comedy competition, Last Comic Standing.

The series premiered on June 7, 2010, and had a panel of judges that consisted of Natasha Leggero, Greg Giraldo, and Andy Kindler

Esparza beat out 35 other hopefuls to bag the crown of the last comic standing. Among the esteemed field that he beat out included comedians who would go on to become a huge name in the comedy scene: people like Nikki Glaser, Tiffany Haddish, Kurt Metzger, Jimmy Dore, Rachel Feinstein, David Feldman, and Kirk Fox.

Esparza has been a regular fixture of television. He has made recurring appearances in shows like The Shop, Campus Law, and Superstore.

He starred as Felipe in the first season of comedy series, The Shop. As of now, the show is on an indefinite hiatus after its first season aired.

Esparza also played Alan in two episodes of the comedy series, Campus Law. The show was canceled after one season.
