Kelly Clarkson and husband Brandon Blackstock have the kind of storybook romance that Hollywood screen-writers would be envious of!
Bound by wedlock since 2013, their love is one for the ages. In this list, we countdown the milestones of Clarkson and Blackstock's relationship.
Brandon's father, Narvel Blackstock, was the one that started the ball rolling on the years-long romance between Brandon and Kelly.
While working as Kelly's manager, Narvel introduced his son to the singer in 2006. The two were reacquainted at the 2012 Super Bowl XLVI, where Clarkson was scheduled to perform her rendition of the American National Anthem during the half-time show.
Clarkson had been smitten with Brandon, but seeing as he was married to Melissa Ashworth coupled with the fact that he fathered two children already, she never thought things would work out between them.
But when they reconnected in 2012, Brandon was fresh off of a divorce with Melissa. Things progressed from platonic to romantic, and by the end of the year, they were engaged.
Her Super Bowl performance turned out to be a momentous occasion for Clarkson not just as a career milestone, but also as her chance at love.
In her interview with E! News, she fondly recounted the night:
Right when I got those bangs was right when I started dating my husband. I remember that because my Super Bowl performance, that was, like, our first time we started flirting. And I was like, 'I'm so into you, make out with me!'"
Brandon proved his commitment to Kelly when he pulled out all the stops to get the American Idol alum to say "YES!".
The talent manager got down on his knees for Clarkson after ten months of dating with some serious hardware.
The engagement ring has been identified as a 5-carat canary diamond ring.
Clarkson took no time to voice her elation over her betrothal to her fans on Twitter. Her December 15, 2012 tweet reads:
“I'M ENGAGED!!!!! I wanted y'all to know!! Happiest night of my life last night! I am so lucky and am with the greatest man ever :)"
Four months after their engagement, Kelly and Brandon tied the knot in October 2013. Kelly walked down the aisle in an intimate ceremony at Blackberry Farm in Walland, Tennessee, among family and friends.
She spared more details about her marriage on her talk show, The Kelly Clarkson Show. In the interview with guest Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Kelly said the following:
"We had this big plan and then we just took our kids and then got married with this person we didn't even know—but it was the most amazing thing—under a little barn on a river. It was so beautiful! It's cool to make it intimate, because your life is always in the public eye."
She did, however, post about her marriage on Twitter.
June 12, 2014, marked the birth of Kelly and Brandon's daughter River Rose Blackstock.
Two years later, they would welcome their son Remington Alexander Blackstock. Born on April 12, 2016, Remington is already a star after appearing in Clarkson's music video for the song "Meaning of Life."
Clarkson is also the stepmother of Brandon's children from his previous marriage to Melissa Ashworth. She plays a doting stepmother to Savannah and Seth Blackstock, treating them as her own.
They have a mutually supportive household and despite the intimidation of having a blended family, Kelly and Brandon support and nurture each child to the best of their abilities.
When asked about the possibility of a third child, Clarkson replied with her signature blend of humor and wit:
“Oh God, those tubes are gone! That’s blasphemy. We don’t even speak of it. We’re both fixed in our own ways, yet still we’ll probably get pregnant again somehow.”
Brandon has been by Kelly's side through thick and thin. The talent manager has taken on the role of managing Clarkson since their marriage.
Brandon can also be seen in shows and award ceremonies cheering on his wife. He was in the front-row with Clarkson's stepdaughter Savannah when Clarkson hosted the 2018 Billboard Music Awards.
Brandon also crashed the stage when Clarkson was performing the song "Piece by Piece" during her recent Meaning of Life tour. Brandon replaced the lead guitarist mid-song and flanked Clarkson through the emotionally-taxing song in a heart-warming gesture.
Seven years and two children later, Brandon and Kelly's passion for each other is as strong as ever. Not one to shy away from bedroom-talk, Clarkson recently shocked the world at how forthcoming she was with details about her and her husband's intimate life.
During the December 2019 Ask Me Anything segment as part of her eponymous show The Kelly Clarkson Show, Clarkson was asked about her "bedtime ritual" by The Voice Season 14 winner, 16-year-old, Brynn Cartelli.
After a round of hysterics, Clarkson said of her night-time routine:
"Well, Brynn, I was single for many years so, I have children [now], and how one makes children is generally what I do before bed — that's not a lie. That's real! And it's not weird, it's natural."
This is far from the first time Clarkson would sing praises about her attraction to her husband or his sexual prowess. In a 2017 interview with SiriusXM, Clarkson had this to say about Brandon:
"This isn't a downer to anybody I dated before him, but I'm just going to be real: I never felt like, honestly, sexually attracted to anybody before him. And I'm not downing my exes, you know, everybody's different. But there was something about him."
She also mentioned in an interview with Redbook in 2017 that despite having a house full of toddlers, she and Brandon find time for each other and keep the fires going in the bedroom.
A fan of spontaneity, Clarkson also mentioned to Redbook that having to schedule sex would be the death knell for her relationship. Her exact quote reads:
"I always swore ours would not be a relationship where we have to schedule sex. That is never going to happen. I call it the oxygen-mask mentality — take care of yourself first!"
Kelly Clarkson and Brandon Blackstock enjoy marital bliss in their home in Encino, Los Angeles, California, after putting their Hendersonville, Tennessee mansion up for sale.
