Talking about his family, he was a son of Otto Anderson and Audrey Volenne. His father was a farmer and his mother was an opera singer and concert pianist. His mother left her dreams to care for Adam West and his family.

William attended Walla Walla High School and later joined Lakeside School in Seattle. He joined Whitman College but studied at the University of Puget Sound. He got his bachelor's degree in literature and a minor in psychology from Whitman College.

After he graduated from college he worked as an announcer on American Forces Network television. He worked as a milkman after he was discharged from American Forces Network and moved to Hawaii to pursue a career in television.

Adam West was married three times in his life, he was married to his college girlfriend Billie Lou Yeager in 1950. The couple were together for six years and got divorced in 1956.

After a year later he married Cook Island dancer Ngatokorua Frisbie Dawson, the couple shared two children together and his marriage was ended with his wife in 1970.

He then married his third wife Marcelle Tagand Lear on November 1970. The couple stayed together for more than 4 decades. There was no sign of any conflict between the two of them. They were living together with his two children and two stepchildren.

West died while he was battling with leukemia in Los Angeles, California on 9th June 2017. For his tribute, Los Angeles projected the Bat-Signal on City hall and Walla Walla Shone the bat-signal on the Whitman Tower at the time of his funeral.
