Since his father worked as a teacher in the armed forces in places like Cyprus, Bahrain, and Uganda, the family frequently relocated to these places until finally settling in Manningham, Bradford, where Adrian's father became the deputy headmaster at the Drummond Middle School.

Following a metal band and an instrumental jazz band, in 2008, Edmondson, along with Maartin Allcock, Andy Dinan, and Troy Donockley, founded the band The Bad Shepherds. The band would play folk-punk songs in combination with traditional folk instruments. The group disbanded in October of 2016. 

Two years later, he initiated The Idiot Bastard Band with Simon Brint, Rowland Rivron, Neil Innes, and Phill Jupitus, which is still active even after the death of the band member, Simon Brint.

Both were in the comic strip club to perform alternative comedy. After knowing each other for five years, both tied the knot on May 11, 1985, in the pastoral setting of Cheshire in northwest England. The couple has three daughters: Ella Edmondson, Beattie Edmondson, and Freya Edmondson.

Their eldest daughter, Ella, is married to Dan Furlong since September 30, 2010. She gave birth to a son Fred Furlong on August 27, 2012, making Fred the first grandchild of Saunders and Edmondson. Ella gave birth to her second child, Albert Rafferty Furlong, in February 2014.

Beattie married Samuel Francis on June 4, 2017. The couple has no children as of now. The youngest daughter, Freya, is currently single. 

2. He Met His Comedy Partner In University

The duo, Rik Mayall and Adrian Edmondson, gained popularity as a comedian in The Young Ones and The Comic Strip Presents... becoming an influential member of the then-burgeoning alternative comedy scene.

From performing at the Comedy Store to set up their club called The Comic Strip with Peter Richardson, Nigel Planer, Jennifer Saunders, Dawn French, and Alexei Sayle, the comedy partners were frequently seen working alongside each other. 

However, both met at the University of Manchester while studying drama. They would perform as 20th Century Coyote in the university and eventually became best friends. As a matter of fact, when Mayall died on June 9, 2014, due to heart attack, Edmondson was among the one to carry Mayall's casket at the funeral.
