Al Roker was born on August 20, 1954, in Queens, New York, the United States. He is the son of Albert Lincoln Roker, Sr., a bus driver and Isabel Roker. He has two siblings, a sister Alisa Smith and a brother Christopher Roker.
Roker did his schooling from the Xavier High School in Manhattan. He later obtained a B.A. in communications from the State University of New York at Oswego in 1976.
Roker has been married twice. He first tied the knot with the WNBC producer Alice Bell, on 22 December 1984. The couple, however, divorced in 1994. They also have a child, a daughter Courtney Roker, born in 1987.
He later went on to marry his second spouse Deborah Roberts, a journalist on 16 September 1995. The couple first met when Roberts joined NBC as a reporter in 1990.
The two are also blessed with two children, a daughter Leila Roker, born in 1998 and a son Nicholas Albert, born in 2002.
