Tamsin Greig is an English actress and comedian. Born Tamsin Margaret Mary Greig on July 12, 1966, Greig is a native of Maidstone, Kent, England. 

The middle child of three daughters born to color chemist Eric and his wife, Ann, Greig got her Bachelor in Art - Drama and Theatre Arts from the University of Birmingham in 1988. 

After her graduation and before fame found her, Greig worked as an administrator for the Family Planning Association.

7. Mother of Three Children with Husband Richard Leaf 

Tamsin has been married since 1997 to the English actor Richard Leaf. Richard is an actor known for his roles in movies like Braveheart, Hannibal Rising, and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. They met at the wrap party of the 1996 miniseries Neverwhere and connected over their love for cinema.

They got married in May 1997 and have three children together: sons Jakob Zebedee Leaf and Nathanael Zephaniah Leaf, and a daughter, Roxie Joy Leaf.

6. Stars in the 2020 Historical Drama Series, Belgravia

Tamsin recently starred in the historical drama, Belgravia, based on the 2016 Julian Fellowes novel of the same name. 

Greig played Anne Trenchard, alongside Philip Glenister, who played James Trenchard; and Emily Reid, who played Sophia Trenchard.

They were joined by Jeremy Neumark Jones, Nicholas Rowe, and James Chalmers, among others.

The series premiered on ITV in the UK on March 15, 2020, and on Epix in the US on April 12, 2020.   

5. Lead Roles in Black Books and Green Wing

Besides her lead role in Belgravia, over the years, Greig has also starred in numerous other TV shows.

As Fran Katzenjammer, she was one of three central characters in the English sitcom, Black Books, alongside Dylan Moran's Bernard Ludwig Black and Bill Bailey's Manny Bianco.      

Greig was also part of the main cast of another sitcom, Green Wing, as Dr. Caroline Todd, and the comedy-drama series, Love Soup as Alice Chenery, a role specifically written for Greig. 

4. Cameo in Shaun of the Dead

On the movie front, Greig's most notable appearance includes her cameo appearance as Maggie in the 2004 horror-comedy movie, Shaun of the Dead, starring Simon Pegg and Nick Frost

A parody of the zombie-horror genre, the movie became an instant cult classic.

Her other notable movie appearances include cameo appearances in Pure and Official Secrets, both movies coincidentally starring Keira Knightley.     

3. Starring Roles in Miranda and The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel 

As known as she is for her odd cameo roles in movies, Greig has also been a lead character in various other movies.

She starred alongside Christina Ricci,  John Simm, John Hurt, and Kyle MacLachlan, among others in the 2002 comedy movie Miranda.

She also starred alongside James Vaughan, Mark Heap, and Richard Leaf in the 2008 satirical sci-fi/comedy Captain Eager and the Mark of Voth.  

Greig was also a prominent cast member of the 2015 comedy-drama, The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, featuring an ensemble line-up consisting of Judi Dench, Maggie Smith, Dev Patel, and Richard Gere, among others.    

2. Voiced Debbie Aldridge in the BBC Radio 4 soap opera, The Archers

Tamsin had a longstanding stint providing the voice for the BBC Radio 4 soap opera, The Archers. The radio soap opera itself has been airing since 1951 and with over 19,207 episodes airing to date, it is the longest-running soap opera in history.

Tamsin lent her voice to bring to life the character, Debbie Aldridge; she has been voicing the character since 1991.
