Bill de Blasio was born Warren Wilhelm Jr. on May 8, 1961, in Manhattan, New York City, the U.S. to Maria Wilhelm and Warren Wilhelm.     

He has brothers named Donald Wilhelm and Steven Wilhelm. He went to Cambridge Rindge and Latin School.    

After graduating from high school, he joined New York University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree. 

He further pursued his education and got a Master of International Affairs degree from Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs.    

He met his wife Chirlane McCray during his early political days and got married on May 14, 1994. The pair has two children, a son named Dante de Blasio and a daughter named Chiara de Blasio.
