Blasio and his wife have been criticized for not doing as much charity as they should. In 2018, they gave out only $350 to charity. They increased their donations but not by much in 2019 to $1,050.

Bill de Blasio was born Warren Wilhelm Jr. on May 8, 1961, in Manhattan, New York City, the U.S. to Maria Wilhelm and Warren Wilhelm.

After graduating from high school, he joined New York University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
