    Emmy Award-winner Bradley Whitford is an American actor and political activist who is best known for the portrayal of White House Deputy Chief of Staff Josh Lyman in the drama series The West Wing.   

    Whitford made his acting debut in 1985 from an episode of The Equalizer and his film debut in 1986 from Dead as a Doorman. Since his debut, Bradley has appeared in numerous films and TV shows like Little Manhattan, Savannah, Saving Mr. Banks, Godzilla: King of the Monsters, and more.

    Bradley Whitford was born on 10th October 1959 in Madison, Wisconsin, the United States to Genevieve Louie and George Van Norman Whitford. He is American by nationality and comes from a white ethnic background.

    Whitford grew up in Chestnut Hill, Pennsylvania, and went to Madison East High School in 1977. He then majored in English and theatre at Wesleyan University from where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in 1981. Bradley then enrolled at the Juilliard School for drama and was a member of Group 14.

    He then joined the cast of an American serial political drama television series entitled The West Wing as Josh Lyman, which premiered in 1999. Bradley won an Emmy Award in 2001 for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series. 

    He played Josh from 1999 to 2006 alongside Rob Lowe, Moira Kelly, Allison Janney, and Richard Schiff. Whitford also wrote two episodes of the series entitled Faith-Based Initiative (sixth season) and Internal Displacement (seventh season).  

    After West Wing, Whitford played Danny Tripp in Sorkin’s later series Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip alongside Matthew Perry, Amanda Peet, Steven Weber, and D.L. Hughley.

    In 2011, Whitford guest-starred in an American crime drama TV series In Plain Sight and the season three finale of The Mentalist as a minion of and decoy for Red John.

    Since 2015, Bradley has a recurring role on Brooklyn Nine-Nine as Roger Peralta, father of Det. Jake Peralta. Likewise, in 2018, Whitford joined the cast of The Handmaid’s Tale on Hulu AS Commander Joseph Lawrence alongside Elisabeth Moss, Joseph Fiennes, Yvonne Strahovski, and Alexis Bledel.

    Some of his notable other film work credit include Marvel One-Shot: Agent Carter, Saving Mr. Banks, Get Out, Unicorn Store, The Post, The Darkest Minds, and Destroyer.     The 60-year-old actor reportedly resides in his 4,000 square-foot Foursquare-style home, which is located in Pasadena. Bradley purchased the house in August 2010 for $3.1 million. 

    Prior to this, Whitford lived in a 6,769 square-foot Italian Renaissance Revival villa located in San Marino with his then-wife Jane Kaczmarek. The house was sold for $6.2 million following their divorce.

    Previously Bradley was married to actress Jane Kaczmarek. They exchanged their wedding vows on 15th August 1992 and shared three children named: Frances Genevieve, George Edward, and Mary Louisa.

    The couple made their divorce announcement after 16 years of marriage in June 2009. Their divorce was officially finalized in October 2010.
