    Murphy started his career on the big screen with the film Harlem Nights in 1989, playing a minor role. Then in 1990, he worked on Mo' Better Blues as Eggy. His first role in a major film was as Livin' Large on the film Jungle Fever (1991).

    His first major role was in 1993’s CB4, where he played the villain Gusto. After this, he had some minor roles in films like The Players Club, The Pompatus of Love, Paper Soldiers, etc. before finally working on Death of a Dynasty.

    In 2006, he did a cameo role on Night at the Museum acting alongside Ben Stiller, Dick van Dyke, etc. The film grossed over $574.5 million.

    Some of his other well-known films are Our Family Wedding, Norbit, Meet the Blacks, etc.

    His TV career started in 1990 with the TV movie The Kid Who Loved Christmas, after a short hiatus of 5 years, he worked in an episode of Martin.

    Charlie Murphy was born Charles Quinton Murphy on July 12, 1959, in Brooklyn, New York, U.S to Charles Edward Murphy and Lillian Murphy, he died aged 57. He was raised in his hometown and had a rough childhood, even going to jail for ten months while a teenager.  

    He joined the Navy when he was released from jail and served for six years. He had two brothers named Vernon Lynch and Eddie Murphy.

    The star was married to Tisha Taylor, they tied the knot in 1997 and were married until Tisha passed away due to cervical cancer in December 2009. Murphy had three children, two from his marriage with Taylor and one from a previous relationship.
