Woo grew up watching fantasy genre movies. In his formative years, he became particularly interested in two fictional characters: Batman and Godzilla. 

The 29-years old actor would imitate scenes from the fictional character's film. Moreover, he thought such activities as enjoyable tasks to do that ingrained in him the desire to pursue a career in acting.

Recently, he celebrated the victory of Parasite in the 26th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards by posting a picture of the delighted cast members holding the awards. All of his followers were pleased to see their favorite actor's hard work being paid. 

5. Has Majored In Cultural Studies

Besides giving his best in every performance and energizing the audience, Choi is a diligent student too. In a conversation with asiae.co, the Okja actor stated his intention to earn at least 4.1 out of 4.5 GPA. When the interviewer told him he could get a full scholarship with such marks, he jokingly decreased the score to 3.5. 

Nevertheless, he enrolled at Chung-Ang University in 2011 and majored in cultural studies. Interestingly, Shik entered the entertainment industry in the same year. He also surprised his classmates by personally making an effort to get to know them despite the fact they were two years junior to him, and he was an actor.

The 29-years old actor has been active in the acting field for eight years. With myriads of television and big screen appearances, he has amassed a remarkable fan following.

3. Moved To Canada While In Fifth Grade  

Born in Seoul, South Korea, Choi family immigrated to Canada while he was studying in fifth grade. In Canada, Choi lived in British Columbia and spent most of his formative years. He attended Pinetree Secondary School and went to Simon Fraser University for graduation.

However, after ten years of staying in Canada, he relocated to Korea to attend acting auditions leaving his graduate studies as a junior. 

What's interesting is that Choi has a different English name in Canada. He went by the name Edward while people mostly called him Eddie. He also holds Canadian citizenship.

2. Became A Baseball Player In Train To Busan  

In 2016, the Secretly, Greatly star appeared in a movie called Train to Busan, which captures the havoc created by the zombies. The movie became the first to break the box office score exceeding more than 10 million moviegoers. Moreover, it also premiered in the 2016 Cannes Film Festival.    

Choi played the character Yong-guk who happens to be a young baseball player that does everything in his will to survive the zombie attack.

The same year he won 11th Max Movie Awards in the category of Rising Star. Before the film, he had already gained public attention for his role in the movie Set Me Free. 

1. Choi Is A Part Of Oscar-Nominated Movie

The Korean-Canadian star had already experienced the perks of being a cast of a film whose magnitude surpasses beyond the national level. Nevertheless, he went to co-star in yet another movie called Parasite that has received global recognition.     

The movie released on 30 May 2019 had amazing cast members like Song Kang-ho, Lee Sun-KyunCho Yeo-Jeong, Park So-dam, Lee Jung-eun, Chang Hyae-jin, and many more talented actors.   

In the movie, Choi portrayed the character of Kim Ki-woo, whose family struggles financially and becomes captivated by the lifestyle of a wealthy Parks family. 

The movie garnered various accolades, including six nominations at the Academy Awards. It marks the first South-Korean movie to receive such recognition in Academy Award. Besides, it also won Golden Globe Awards, British Academy Film Awards, and Screen Actors Guild Award.
