Health Concerns In Iran Rise As The Country Becomes A Major Hotspot For The Coronavirus Epidemic

1. On Tuesday 25th February 2020, the Deputy Health Minister of Iran tested positive for Coronavirus a day after addressing the Iranian public about the present state of the virus
2. Iran experiences a major surge in Coronavirus cases, causing high concerns among officials and citizens.
3. Iraj Harirchi gave a speech addressing the Iranian public about the state of the epidemic on 24th February 2020.
4. During the speech, he appeared as if he was experiencing discomfort. A day later, he tested positive for the virus.
5. The Global state of the epidemic is causing panic in the whole world as economies, trade, travel, etc. all suffer.

China has reported around 78,514 cases of the infection, among which 2,747 have died, 8,346 are in serious condition, 32,840 have recovered, and the rest are still being observed.

The virus originated in Wuhan and spread throughout the world in 2020.  

Outside of China, three countries, Iran, S. Korea, and Italy, have become hotspots for deaths due to the virus. Iran has reported 22 deaths, which are the highest outside of China. Similarly, S. Korea and Italy have also reported 13 and 12 deaths, respectively.

These countries are the worst affected outside of China and are set to become the next target of the disease.

Iran has especially been affected, and tension among the public and state has also increased due to the disease. Most citizens feel that Tehran is not reporting the total amount of cases and is hiding information from the public.

This led to Iran’s The Deputy Health Minister, Iraj Harirchi, giving a speech to address the issue and claiming that the state was truthful with all of its citizens about the disease.   

He appeared flustered and in discomfort as he gave the speech.

A day later on Tuesday, it was confirmed that the minister himself had contracted the disease along with an MP.

The UK is also planning for an outbreak, Public Health England's (PHE) nine regional teams are making arrangements to prepare for an outbreak. There are only 15 reported cases in the UK as of February 2020 and every health official has also been warned about the disease and a possible outbreak.

Italy is the most affected in Europe and many countries on the continent have already been affected.
