Anna Baryshnikov is an American actress and former ballet dancer born of Russian heritage.

Despite her short run as a professional actress, Anna is well on her way to reaching the heights of popularity that her parents -- accomplished people that they were -- were able to reach, at the prime of their careers.

She plays one of the five titular Dickinson siblings around whom the period-comedy series Dickinson is based. The first season of the series dropped on Apple+ on November 1, 2019.

7. She has been Cast as a Series Regular in Dickinson

Anna joins the star-studded cast of the Apple+ period-comedy-drama series, Dickinson. 

Based on the dramatized retelling of the life of American poet Emily Dickinson, the show deals with themes about gender, society, and family in the nineteenth century.

Hailee Steinfeld plays Emily Dickinson with Anna playing the youngest Dickinson sibling, Lavinia "Vinnie" Dickinson. Toby Huss, Jane Krakowski, and Adrian Enscoe play the remaining three siblings. Dickinson also stars Ella Hunt in a prominent role.

6. Acclaimed Role in Manchester by the Sea

Anna first opened the eyes of the wider world to her talents in the acclaimed 2016 drama movie Manchester by the Sea. Helmed by an Academy Award-winning performance by Casey Affleck and a stellar turn by Michelle Williams, the movie was highly praised and ranked among the best movies of the year.

Anna herself made a critically-acclaimed turn as Sandy and was nominated along with the cast at that year's Critics' Choice Movie Awards and Screen Actors Guild Awards.  

5. Daughter of Ballet Dancer Parents

Talent must run in the Baryshnikov blood and Anna continues the pedigree. Anna's father, Mikhail Baryshnikov, is a dancer, choreographer, and actor. He is held up on a pedestal by his peers as one of the premier male ballet dancers in history.

Anna's mother, Lisa Rinehart, is also a former ballet dancer and writer/director.   

4. Her Siblings are Accomplished Artists

Speaking of the talented Baryshnikov family blood, Anna's siblings are highly accomplished individuals in themselves.  

Her brother, Peter Andrew Baryshnikov is a photographer whose work has been featured in The New York Times. Her half-sister from her father's previous relationship to Jessica Lange, Shura Baryshnikov, is a dancer and choreographer. 

3. Started Acting at Age 6

Anna had begun to show sparks of greatness at a very young age. At age 6, Anna performed in a rendition of William Shakespeare's play, A Midsummer Night's Dream. 

When she graduated from Northwestern University in 2014, she pursued a full-time acting career and started making appearances in various TV shows, most notable of which included The Mysteries of Laura, Doll & Em, and Blue Bloods. 

2. Played Meghan in The Kindergarten Teacher

Anna continued her run of phenomenal performances by playing the role of Meghan in the 2018 drama movie, The Kindergarten Teacher. 

Based on the eponymous Israeli movie, The Kindergarten Teacher tells the story of a dissatisfied kindergarten teacher, Lisa Spinelli (played by Maggie Gyllenhaal) who finds meaning in life by helping a child prodigy reach his potential.
