Could this news be any more exciting, ever since Chandler (Matthew Perry) cracked the last joke on the last episode of Friends, fans have dreamed for the day when the cast of the favorite sitcom of millions of viewers would reunite, and it is finally happening!!!!!
The cast members of Friends are reuniting for a one-time special on HBO’s streaming service HBO Max. The last episode closed with the six friends leaving Monica’s (Courtney Cox) apartment along with Mondler’s twins.
They share a beautiful moment before leaving the apartment when they all leave their keys on the table, concluding an era of friendship, tears, laughs, and love.
The reunion of Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, and David Schwimmer has sent the internet into overdrive, and fans, including Hollywood A-listers, have gone absolutely berserk.
Jennifer Aniston started the rumors of the reunion after sharing a picture of the cast on Instagram on October 15, 2019. Then the news was finally confirmed after the cast shared a picture of the 6 with the caption “It’s happening…”.
It has been 18 years since the show last aired, but it was still the second favorite streaming show of the US and the UK’s favorite show to stream in 2018.
HBO Max will launch in May, but an exact date has not yet been announced as of February 23, 2020.
At the end of Friends, Chandler and Monica move out of their apartment and shift to the suburbs with their twins.
Similarly, Ross and Rachel also patch up but have an uncertain future ahead of them.
While fans hoped for Phoebe and Joey to start a relationship, they remained friends. The last episode had more than 52.5 Million that tuned in and countless millions that watched it later.
Most fans have speculated that the reunion might pick up where they left the original series, but HBO Max has revealed that the one-off special will be unscripted.
HBO’s chief content officer, Kevin Reilly said: Guess you could call this the one where they all got back together - we are reuniting with David, Jennifer, Courteney, Matt, Lisa and Matthew for an HBO Max special that will be programmed alongside the entire Friends Library,.
I became aware of Friends when it was in the very early stages of development and then had the opportunity to work on the series many years later and have delighted in seeing it catch on with viewers generation after generation. It taps into an era when friends – and audiences – gathered together in real time and we think this reunion special will capture that spirit, uniting original and new fans.
Before this, there had been multiple times when a F.R.I.E.N.D.S reunion was rumored, but they were all false rumors until the cast confirmed this one.
Various reports from sources Variety have reported that each cast member is being paid $2.5 million (£1.9 million). In addition to this, the BBC reported that HBO Max acquired the rights for $425 million (£339 million).
The cast has earned $20 million per year from reruns alone. The cast’s initial salary when the show first aired was only $22,500 per episode, but by the end of the last season, each member took home $1 million per episode.
