Greg Ellis is an English actor most known for his live-action as well as voice-over roles. Arguably the most prolific video-game voice actor, he has lent his voice to over 150 video games.

Born Jonathan Ashley Rees on March 21, 1968, in Wigan, Lancashire, England, the-now 52-year-old is most known for his roles in movies like the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, Star Trek, and The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug; as well as TV shows like 24, Dexter, Hawaii Five-O, and Lucifer.    

Most recently, he was seen in the Netflix comedy-drama series, Gentefied.

7. Over a Hundred Video Game Voice-Acting Credits 

According to IMDb, Ellis has 217 acting credits to date. More than half of that can solely be attributed to his extensive voice-over work; he has over 150 voice acting credits in video games alone!

His most notable video-game voice roles include Ghost Recon 2, Shadow of Rome, Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, God of War II, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, God of War III, Final Fantasy XIV, Star Wars: The Old Republic, and Diablo III.       

6. Played Lieutenant Theodore Groves in the Pirates of the Caribbean Franchise

Greg Ellis has had recurring appearances as Lieutenant Theodore Groves in three installments of the multi-billion-dollar-grossing fantasy-action-adventure movie franchise, Pirates of the Caribbean.

He made his first appearance in the first movie in the franchise, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003). He reprised his roles for the third installment of the franchise, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End (2007), and the fourth installment, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (2011).

The movie franchise starred some of the biggest names in Hollywood like Johnny Depp, Keira Knightley, Orlando Bloom, and Geoffrey Rush, and remains one of the most successful movie franchises in history, grossing over $4.5 billion at the worldwide box office.  

5. Recurring Character in Netflix's Gentefied

Ellis recently played Chef Austin in the comedy-drama series, Gentefied.

The story centers around three Latin-American cousins who band together to keep their grandfather's taco restaurant, Mama Fina's, from going out of business as the community becomes gentrified.

Joseph Julian Soria, Carlos Santos, Karrie Martin, and JoaquĆ­n Cosio star in the Netflix comedy drama with Ellis playing the chief executive chef of the restaurant, Mangia.

Gentefied premiered on Netflix on February 21, 2020, and as of April 2020, holds a 91% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 22 reviews.  

4. He had an Appearance in Titanic

One of his earliest roles saw Ellis playing the Steward of the rescue ship, the RMS Carpathia, in the 1997 romantic-tragedy, Titanic.  

Based on the real-life story of the doomed maiden voyage of the luxury liner, RMS Titanic, the 1997 movie was a huge critical and commercial success, winning 11 out of its 14 Academy Award-nominations, as well as grossing $2.187 billion at the box office to date.

Greg got widespread exposure as the Carpathia steward who rescued the passengers in the aftermath of the sinking of Titanic.

He played the photographer-turned-abuser, Jonathan Farrow -- the antagonist of a 2009 episode of the crime-drama series, Dexter.

He played another criminal with the surname Farrow: Thomas Farrow, a British-agent-gone-rogue, in the fifth season of the police-procedural-action drama series, Hawaii Five-0.

Greg also guest starred as Myles Drunker in a 2018 episode of the Tom Ellis-led fantasy-crime-drama series, Lucifer.

2. He was Reported Missing in 2016

On May 11, 2016, Greg was reported missing from his North Hollywood home. According to reports, Greg was suffering from mental health problems at the time of his disappearance. Fans and well-wishers were justifiably concerned about the well-being of the actor and rallied together to contribute in any way they could.

After four days, a close friend of Ellis', Jeff Rosenthal, reported that he was found alive and well. His Twitter statement read:

"He's alive and at home. I will have no other information."

To this day, the circumstances behind Ellis' disappearance remains a mystery, but fans breathed a sigh of relief when he turned up seemingly unharmed.
