James was born James Grover Franciscus on 31 January, 1934 to Lorraine and John Allen Franciscus. He held American Nationality. 

His father worked as a soldier during World War II from 1939-1945 but, unfortunately, his father died while in combat. 

James enrolled at Yale University in New Haven and he graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in 1957.  

Death 

At the age of 57, James died in the year 1991, in North Hollywood, California. He was suffered from emphysema which is a type of of Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease which severely and progressively impairs the lungs of a patient with breathing problems characterized by poor airflow, shortness of breath, cough.

Later, he started dating to Kathleen Wellman, the daughter of film director William A. Wellman. Then, after dating for a month they married on the 28th day of March 1960. They had 4 daughters named Jamie, Kellie, Korie, and Jolie. However, they split up. 

After his first marriage, he got married a second time to Carla Ankney in 1980. He was still married until the time of his death in 1991.
