Karen Fukuhara is quickly building her brand as a swashbuckling female badass, first from her debut role as Tatsu Yamashiro / Katana in the 2016 DC movie, Suicide Squad, and again as Kimiko/ The Female in the Amazon Prime superhero series, The Boys.

The 27-year-old newcomer returns to kick ass and take names in the second season of The Boys, set to release sometime this year. 

A martial artist in real-life, she holds a brown striped belt in karate which lent to her realistic fight scenes in Suicide Squad and The Boys.

7. Played Katana in Suicide Squad

The role that started it all- and what a role it was! Karen made a big splash in her feature film debut with her stunning turn as the sword-wielding anti-hero, Tatsu Yamashiro / Katana, in the 2016 superhero movie, Suicide Squad

She got to star alongside actors of such caliber as Will Smith, Jared Leto, Margot Robbie, Viola Davis, and Jai Courtney, among others.

6. She Plays Kimiko in The Boys

From one badass to the next, Fukuhara plays Kimiko, a mute with animalistic ferocity and superhuman speed and strength in the hit Amazon Prime series, The Boys. She is the only female and the only superhuman who is a part of Billy Butcher's anti-superhero vigilante team, The Boys.

She joins an ensemble cast that includes Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Dominique McElligott, Jessie T. Usher, Laz Alonso, and Tomer Capon.

5. Has a Growing Following on Instagram

As her popularity continues to grow, so do her Instagram followers. On her official handle @karenfukuhara, she is currently at 313k followers. The 27-year-old's fandom grows by the day, courtesy of her brilliant showing in movies and on television.

4. First Professional Gig as Host of Disney's Movie Surfers

Karen was still studying in middle school when the role of the host of the entertainment news program, Movie Surfers, came knocking.

The mini broadcasted over the Disney Channel appeared in commercial format and provides a behind-the-scenes look at Walt Disney movies.  

3. She is of Japanese Descent

Karen was born on February 10, 1992, in Los Angeles, California. She was born to Japanese parents who immigrated to the States.

She can speak Japanese and English fluently.

2. Voice-Over Work in Two Animated Action/Adventure Series

Fukuhara las lent her voice to two animated series.

She plays Princess Glimmer, the princess of Bright Moon in the animated series, She-Ra and the Princesses of Power.

She also voiced the lead character of Kipo Oak in the animated series Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts.

Karen received an ivy-league education and studied at the University of California, Los Angeles.
