    Controversy 

    M. Night Shyamalan was involved in a media hoax with the American pay-TV channel, Sci-Fi Channel in 2004. Just for the sake of pre-release publicity of The Village, Sci-Fi showed Shyamalan in its documentary special The Buried Secret of M. Night Shyamalan, shot on the set of The Village, that he had been dead for nearly half an hour after he drowned in a frozen pond as a child.

    Following the reported resurrection, he had the capability of interacting with sprite and other supernatural experiences.

    It was later turned out to be a hoax; Sci-Fi staffers had signed a non-disclosure agreement of $5 million with Shyamalan. 

    Who Is M. Night Shyamalan?

    M. Night Shyamalan was born on 6th August 1970, in Maje, Pondicherry, India. He is the son of Dr Nelliyattu C. Shyamalan, a Malayali neurologist and Dr Jayalakshmi, an OB-GYN. He moved to the United States along with his parents when he was just six-week-old. The family of three later joined by his sister Veena Shyamalan, settled in Penn Valley, Pennsylvania.

    Shyamalan attended the boarding school, the Roman Catholic grammar school Waldron Mercy Academy. He later went on to study at the Episcopal Academy, followed by the private Episcopal high school. He completed his graduation from the New York University Tisch School of the Arts in Manhattan in 1992.

    M. Night Shyamalan married his wife, Bhavna Vaswani, on 7th  March 1993, in a private wedding ceremony. The couple met for the first time while both of them were at New York University.
