American actress Sierra Capri has only been active in the entertainment industry for a few years now. But these few years have been more than enough for her to secure the spot in the list of the next big stars.
Capri is undoubtedly one of the favorite newcomers, thanks to her performance as the 14-year-old Afro-Latinx, Monse Finnie, in Netflix's On My Block. Here are seven interesting facts to know about the talented actress.
Sierra had a penchant for acting from an early age. She is also fond of biology and had always dreamed of studying forensic science. She told Teen Vogue.
“If one day I can be shooting a movie, and the next day I can be on a crime scene, that would be a dream come true for me,"
While the hectic schedule and constant scrutiny can be unnerving, Sierra is as determined and resilient as her character, Monse, saying, "as long as you put in the work, you can make it happen.”
Sierra Capri is 21 years old as of now. She was born on September 8, 1998, which makes her zodiac sign Virgo.
Capri is 5 feet and 6 inches tall (1.68 m). She grew up in Baltimore until moving to Georgia at the age of 12. The 21 years old actress currently resides in Los Angeles.
Capri joined Instagram on 2017, where she has 2.1 million followers. You can follow her on Instagram at @thesierracapri.
Meanwhile, on Twitter, 109.1k people follow the 21 years old actress, who joined Twitter on March 2014. Her Twitter handle is @TheSierraCapri.
While still a biology student at a college in Savannah, Georgia, Capri took an uncredited role in Oscar-nominated film Hidden Figures in 2016. The same year, she also had a small part in the box-office hit Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising.
But it was on the set of Hidden Figures that prompted her to take a full-time acting career. While joining the seminar of cast members, she met Deja Dee, who did self-tape coaching. Dee helped Capri film the self-tape for On My Block, which eventually caught the eye of the show's producer.
Capri plays as Monsé Finnie in the teen comedy-drama web television series On My Block.
In an interview with Paper Magazine, she recalled the experience of landing in the role of Monse, exclaiming,
"After the audition, I just put it at the back of my mind. I still had a test on Monday, so I made sure I didn't get too excited about it. But when they told me I got the part, we were all jumping up and down — me and my whole family. It's so hard to believe even to this day."
The show features Jason Genao, Brett Gray, Diego Tinoco, Jessica Marie Garcia, Julio Macias, Emilio Rivera, Peggy Blow Ronni Hawk, and many more.
While the on-screen chemistry of Cesar and Monse is indeed the gem of the show, the actors who portrayed it with such flair are not a real-life couple.
The speculation of Capri and Tinoco dating started shortly after the premiere of the show.
But the duo is just enjoying the time of being on the cusp of fledgling and a rising star. Nevertheless, Tinoco and Capri have been good friends ever since their first-chemistry read for On My Block. With Teen Vogue, Tinoco exclaimed,
“Sierra is such a great actress. Working with her, instantly we can just jump into it. I honestly couldn't have asked for a better scene partner. Especially for my first TV show, having a girlfriend. I couldn't have asked for a better screen lover.”
For the first two seasons, Capri received $20,000 per episode, earning $400,000 for 20 episodes.
Following the success of the show, she got a significant pay raise for the third season, along with her co-stars. According to Hollywood Reporter, she earned $650,000 in season three, which makes her salary $81,250 per episode.
If the series gets renewed for a fourth and fifth season, Capri's salary will increase to $850,000 for the fourth season and $1.05 million for the fifth season, as per Business Insider.
