On My Block Actor Julio Macias Joins Netflix's Upcoming Series Selena: Seven Facts to Know About the Mexican-American Actor

Julio Macias is undoubtedly among the beloved cast member of Netflix's On My Block, thanks to his performance as the gang leader Oscar 'Spooky' Diaz.

The 30 years old actor will appear in Netflix's upcoming series, Selena, which chronicles the life of Queen of Tejano music, Selena Quintanilla-Pérez. 

Macias will play as Pete Astudillo, according to People en Español. Astudillo was initially a backup vocalist and later a member of the Tejano band, Selena y Los Dinos, formed by Selena. He has also co-written some of her number one hits, including Bidi Bidi Bom Bom. 

Since Macias grew up listening to Selena's music, he thinks of the show as 'a beautiful homage' to the late singer. He further added, 

"In Mexico, people still talk about Selena like she is alive, like she is part of our community, maybe because we celebrate El Día de Los Muertos and know that there is life in the afterlife."
