The 25-year-old actress has outgrown her parents' shadow and emblazoned her name in the annals of showbiz, leaving a trail of stellar movies in her wake.

Most recently, she starred in the first season of the crime-drama TV series, Prodigal Son, as Detective Dani Powell. With a second season guaranteed, we look at seven facts about Aurora Perrineau.

7. One of the Lead Cast of Prodigal Son

Prodigal Son is a crime-drama series about an FBI profiler and his serial-killer father who must reconcile to bring down a string of copy-cat killers.

The main cast is helmed by an excellent ensemble that includes Aurora, Tom Payne, Lou Diamond Phillips, Michael Sheen, and Keiko Agena, among others.

Aurora plays Detective Dani Powell in the show.      

6. She Was Embroiled in a Se*ual Assault Lawsuit

In the wake of the #MeToo Movement, those who were silenced raised their voice against se*ual abuse- Aurora was one such woman. 

She filed a report against Murray Miller- the creator of HBO's Girls alleging that he se*ually assaulted her

What should have been a relatively straightforward case was never resolved due to a lack of evidence and inconsistencies in reports. 

Among those who chimed in was Lena Dunham- of Girls fame, who sided with the writer, Miller. As of today, Miller has not faced the repercussions, and it is unlikely he ever will.

If you have wondered where you have heard the surname Perrineau before, it was probably in the credits for the ABC sci-fi survival drama series, Lost

Aurora's father, Harold Perrineau, was quite the talk of the town back in the heyday of Lost, where he played Michael.

Lost not only made Harold a household name, but it also helped him find love. Brittany was a background character in Lost when she met Harold and the two hit it off. They got married and bore three children, one of whom would grow up to be Aurora. 

4. Played Shana Elmsford in Jem and the Holograms

Aurora found more mainstream success as Shana Elmsford in the 2015 live-action adaptation of the popular '80s show, Jem: Jem and the Holograms.

The movie would bomb at the box-office and become the laughing stock in critics' reviews, it could not undo the popularity that Aurora would garner for her involvement in the movie.
