She has appeared in more than two dozen TV shows, most notable of which being her prominent roles in Ally McBeal, One Life to Live, and The Good Wife.

In the 2018 Netflix cyberpunk TV series, Altered Carbon, Goldsberry plays Quellcrist Falconer, the leader of the "Envoys."

Her character was featured prominently in the first season, despite her early death on the show. 

She is set to appear in the second season of the show set to be released on February 27, 2020. 

She joins the ensemble cast that includes Joel Kinnaman, Martha Higareda, and Dichen Lachman, among other noted celebrities.

Throughout her illustrious career, Goldsberry has managed to stay true to her theatre roots and performed extensively in theatre.

She has performed in the Broadway renditions of The Lion King, The Color Purple, and Rent. Her off-Broadway theatre credits also include Two Gentlemen of Verona, The Baker's Wife, and Love's Labour's Lost, among others.

Her prolific career was capped off by her performance as Angelica Schuyler in the revered Broadway musical play, Hamilton. Her work earned her the 2016 Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical.

She and her husband also decided to adopt an African-born child. They officially became the adoptive parents to a child, Brielle in 2014.

Renée Elise Goldsberry was born on January 2, 1971, in San Jose, California. Born to an industrial psychologist mother, and an automotive industry executive father, she is the middle child and the only daughter among four siblings. 

Renée took a liking to theatre the first time she was exposed to it in summer camp when she was eight. 

Her mother fostered her love for theatre and enrolled Renée and her younger brother in the HITS Theater in Houston. 

Renée attended Cranbrook Kingswood School and enrolled in the Bachelor in Fine Arts- Theatre program at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. 

When she graduated with flying colors, she joined the Master of Music- Jazz Studies program at the University of Southern California's Thornton School of Music and graduated in 1997.
