He was born as Rush Hudson Limbaugh III on 12th January 1951 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri in the United States to Rush Hudson Limbaugh Jr. and Mildred Carolyn Limbaugh. He has a younger brother named David Limbaugh.

He graduated from Cape Girardeau Central High School in 1969. He then enrolled at Southeast Missouri State University but soon dropped out of the institute.
