    Ryan Sheckler is an American professional skateboarder, entrepreneur, and TV personality. He holds the distinction of being the youngest skater to win a professional contest, when he won the gold medal at the X-Games, at age 13.   

    Widely considered as one of the most influential skateboarders of all time, Ryan is also a reality TV star who was the crux of the MTV reality TV show Life of Ryan.

    Ryan Sheckler has been a professional skateboarder all his life, and his earnings from skateboarding gigs, as well as his sponsorship deals, make the bulk of his net worth. As per the reports, his annual salary is estimated at $500k. 

    Ryan was inspired by his father to become a skateboarder and was 18 months old when he held his first skateboard. Under the tutelage of his father, Ryan trained rigorously, and by age 6, he had performed his first backflip.    

    Ryan joined the California Amateur Skateboarding League around 1997, and participated and won numerous state championships. He hit the skateboarding circuit, excelling at such competitions as the World Cup of Skateboarding, Vans Triple Crown, Slam City Jam, and the Gravity Games

    In 2003, Ryan made history when he became the youngest person to win the gold medal at the X-Games. He duplicated the feat two more times: at the X-Games 2008 and the X-Games 2009. Besides his three gold-medal wins, Ryan has also won two silver medals and two bronze medals.

    His rising stock skyrocketed when MTV produced a reality TV show based on the-then teenage Ryan's life. The first episode of Life of Ryan premiered on August 27, 2007, and had three successful seasons where Ryan's daily life became immortalized in TV form.   

    Ryan also had a four-season short-video featurette done on him by Red Bull TV called the Sheckler Sessions. 

    Additionally, Sheckler has also been featured as a playable character in such video games as Tony Hawk's Underground 2, Tony Hawk's American Wasteland, Tony Hawk's Project 8, and Tony Hawk's Proving Ground.

    Personal Life

    Ryan Sheckler was born Ryan Allen Sheckler on December 30, 1989. The oldest of three brothers born to father Randy Sheckler and Gretchen Sheckler, Randy, was born and raised in San Clemente, California, with his brothers Shane and Kane.

    Ryan picked up his first skateboard when he was 18 months old, and seeing his determination; his father fostered in him the discipline and the skill that would carry him through his professional years.

    His education was put on the back burner, and he was homeschooled so that he could focus solely on skateboarding.

    Under the tutelage of his father, Ryan started skateboarding at the San Clemente skate park, where he honed his craft with his best friend, Jered Marburger.
