Okieriete "Oak" Onaodowan is an American actor, who is famously known for portraying the roles of Hercules Mulligan and James Madison in 2015 musical Hamilton. Besides, he is also known for his role of Dean Miller in Station 19, a Grey's Anatomy spin-off series.

7. Onaodowan was Born to Nigerian Parents

Actor Okieriete Onaodowan was born on August 16, 1987, in Newark, New Jersey, to Nigerian parents. Raised in West Orange, New Jersey, Onaodowan graduated from West Orange High School in 2005.

During his high school days, Onaodowan played football, however, he had to stop playing after he got injured during practice. As a result, Okieriete got a chance to explore his acting skills as an alternative extracurricular activity.

Following his graduation, Onaodowan started his acting career as a theater actor. His primary acting roles came in the off-Broadway productions of Langston in Harlem, Neighbors, and The Shipment, among others. Some of his notable theater works were in 2012's Broadway play Cyrano de Bergerac and 2014's Rocky the Musical.

Years after he stepped into the entertainment business, Onaodowan made his television debut in 2010 from an episode of an American comedy-drama series, Gravity. The same year, he debuted in film, from a short film titled, Ribbons. He worked in another short film, The One You Marry, in 2011, and the role of Lou in a comedy-drama film Thanks for Sharing, in 2012.

In 2018, Onaodowan landed a main role of Dean Miller in an American action-drama television series, Station 19.

The 32-year-old theater actor Okieriete Onaodowan has boasted nearly 200,000 followers on his official Instagram. He has posted more than 400 posts on his Instagram. From his posts, we can say Okieriete Onaodowan is a fun-loving guy. But, he can rarely be found sharing his family life and relationship stuff through the platform.

The well-known theater, film, and television actor Onaodowan won a Grammy Award for Best Theater Album for Hamilton, which was based on the 2004 biography of Alexander Hamilton. The recording stars Lin-Manuel Miranda, Phillipa Soo, Christopher Jackson, and Anthony Ramos and the likes.

Okieriete Onaodowan is a gay supporter. His current relationship status is unknown, however, he was in a committed relationship with The Deuce actress Alyssa Kempinski. Though the couple tried to remain out of the media radar, they couldn't remain unnoticed. News regarding their dating surfaced after they were spotted enjoying their romantic getaway in San Diego, California, back in 2014.

Onaodowan had also shared their pictures on his social media. On 1st November 2014, Alyssa took to her Instagram sharing another picture of the couple from their romantic week out.

The couple also attended a number of Red Carpet events as a couple, including in Tony Award. It is unclear if they still share the relationship.
