Charlie Barnett is an American actor who just came off a breakthrough year in 2019 after prominent roles in two acclaimed Netflix series: first, as a recurring character in the second season of the psychological-thriller series You and again, as part of the main cast of the comedy-drama series, Russian Doll

7. Part of the Main Cast of Netflix Comedy-Drama, Russian Doll

Barnett is part of the main cast of the Netflix comedy-drama series Russian Doll which stars Natasha Lyonne, Jeremy Bobb, Greta Lee, Yul Vazquez, Rebecca Henderson, and Elizabeth Ashley

The first season -- which debuted on Netflix on February 1, 2019 -- was highly acclaimed and was nominated for four Primetime Emmy Awards. Netflix announced their plans for a second season on June 11, 2019.    

6. Recurring Character in Netflix Thriller You

2019 was a breakthrough year for Barnett as he not only landed a main role in Russian Doll, but he was also a recurring presence on another Netflix project -- this time, as Gabe Miranda in the psychological-thriller series, You.

Starring Penn Badgley, Ambyr Childers, John Stamos, Elizabeth Lail, Victoria Pedretti, and James Scully, the series continued its acclaimed run with a second season which saw Barnett play the acupuncturist who is best friends with Pedretti's character, Love Quinn

5. Starred as Firefighter Peter Mills in Chicago Fire

Before Russian Doll and You, there was Chicago Fire: the series that established Barnett as someone who was here to stay!

Barnett starred as the firefighter-cum-paramedic Peter Mills in the NBC action-drama series, Chicago Fire.

Based around the lives of the fire brigade at the Firehouse 51 of the Chicago Fire Department, Chicago Fire saw Charlie in the main role for three seasons before transitioning to intermittent guest roles.

4. He and his Sister Were Adopted

Charlie and his sister were adopted by a Swedish homemaker and a Minnesota-based boat builder. He and his sister were raised on a sailboat by his parents until he was 7.

About his upbringing, Charlie, in his interview with You & Me This Morning, had this to say:

"I was adopted, as well, so they adopted me and my sister, and we lived on a boat; we sailed around for quite some time." 

3. Came Out as Gay at 13

Charlie revealed his se***lity to his parents when he came out as ga* at age 13.

While homose**ality is largely accepted and celebrated today, Charlie came out as gay years before when it was still stigmatized. Despite that, Charlie revealed that he was proud of his se**ality:

"I’m incredibly thankful to have been born this way, it’s given me unbelievable gifts, and I know that each of my characters that I work on that are gay have some of those things that we would have to fight for — even today that I would have to fight for." 

2. His Age and Height

Despite the mystery surrounding Charlie's biological parents, one thing we do know is that Charlie was born on February 4, 1988. He just turned 32 this past month. 

He is also a tall man and stands at an impressive 6'1".

According to various sources, Charlie's net worth as of March 2020 stands at $1 million.
