Short Biography

Shakira was born Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll on 2 February 1977 in Barranquilla, Colombia to Nidia del Carmen Ripoll Torrado and William Mebarak Chadid. She has Spanish and Italian heritage and her grandparents were originally from Lebanon.

As for her relationships, she is in a relationship with star footballer Gerard Piqué. She has 2 kids with the FC Barcelona star. They started dating from 2011 but met in 2010 when Shakira was shooting the video for Waka Waka.

Before this, she was in a long-term relationship with lawyer Antonio de la Rúa. They started dating in 200 and were together until August 2010 during which he worked for Shakira. He once filed a $100 million lawsuit against her claiming that she had unlawfully terminated him.
