Gijsbrecht Thijmen Matthias, more commonly known as Gijs Blom, is known for playing Sieger in the drama film Jongens. Currently, he plays in the television series The Letter for the King.

Gijs Blom is the son of a Dutch musical actress and voice artist, Marloes van den Heuvel. Heuvel has been active in the entertainment industry since 1980, appearing in myriads of theatre productions, television series, and movies. 

She is also a singer and lent her voice in movies like The Brave Toaster, Air Bud: Golden Receiver, and animated series as TaleSpin, Phineas, and Ferb, SpongeBob SquarePants, The Little Mermaid, to name a few. Heuvel is also recipient of the Pisuisse prize and Music & Decor award.

Later, in 2014, Blom took the lead role in the Dutch youth film Painkillers. He played the character named Casper, a music enthusiast with a dream of becoming a composer. On the other hand, Heuvel played as the judge of a youth orchestra audition where Casper comes as a participant.

Nevertheless, he eventually accepts the journey of self-acceptance. The film earned four awards at the Zlín-Jugend film festival in the Czech Republic.

The 23 years old Dutch actor is the main antagonist of the coming of age adventure television series The Letter for the King. As a matter of fact, the television series is based on the Tonke Dragt classic Dutch novel De brief voor de Koning. 

In the series, Blom portrays Prince Viridian, the youngest son of the King of Unauwen. He possesses extreme greed for power and has no compassion for others. Unheeding the forecast of being overthrown, Viridian sets in to take over his father's kingdom. 

Along with Blom, the series also features other talented actors as Amir Wilson, Ruby Ashbourne Serkis, Jonah Lees, Nathanael Saleh, David Wenham, Yorick van Wageningen.
