Yorick van Wageningen is a Dutch stage, TV, and movie actor who has since been part of many American-made movies and TV shows. He has appeared in movies like The Chronicles of Riddick, Papillon, and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

Yorick plays King Favia, to whom a secret letter of great importance must be delivered. 

The Netflix coming-of-age adventure series is based on the Dutch novel De brief Voor de Koning.

The first season just dropped on March 20, 2020, on Netflix and alongside Yorick, stars Amir Wilson, Ruby Ashbourne Serkis, Thaddea Graham, David Wenham, Jonah Lees, and Gijs Blom, among others.      

6. Acted opposite Vin Diesel in The Chronicles of Riddick

After finding some modicum of success in his native country, Yorick started making appearances in English-language movies, none of which lent his career more credibility up to that point than the 2004 sci-fi adventure movie starring Vin Diesel, The Chronicles of Riddick.

Yorick played Ceryll "The Guv" Cantaglia, an incarcerated criminal. 

5. Career Breakthrough in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

Yorick had a career breakthrough in 2011, not just in his native country, but internationally as part of David Fincher's 2011 psychological-crime-thriller movie,  The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. 

Starring Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara in the central roles, Yorick played the antagonist Nils Bjurman to great acclaim and worldwide recognition.

Yorick continued his streak of outstanding performances with another stellar turn, this time in the 2017 biographical-drama movie, Papillon. 

Based on the life of French convict Henri Charrière, the movie stars, among others, Charlie Hunnam and Rami Malek. 

Yorick plays Warden Barrot, a warden of the prison where Henri was held captive until his escape.

Yorick will be remembered most for his work in English-language films, but his contributions to Dutch cinema and television cannot be overlooked.

He debuted in 1989 in the Dutch movie Wilde Harten. He then had a string of TV appearances in Dutch TV shows like Spijkerhoek, Goede tijden, slechte tijden, Vrienden voor het leven, and Oppassen!!!
