The Netflix series Locke & Key has rejuvenated fans' interest in the supernatural horror and drama genre. The series was released on Netflix on February 7, 2020, and is a highly rated series by fans. The show is based on the comics by writer Joe Hill.
It follows 3 kids and their struggle with a demonic entity that resides in the same home as them and wants the keys that open various doors in magical ways for its own evil purpose.
Locke & Key is part of Netflix’s plan to become the premier streaming service by spending $17.8 billion on its shows in 2020.
Locke & Key is one of the most refreshing horror shows on TV, while Supernatural is airing its last and 15th season in 2020, fans felt that Locke & Key brought fresh air into the genre.
The plot revolves around the lives of 3 children Tyler, Kinsey, and Bode, played by Connor Jessup, Emilia Jones, and Jackson Robert Scott, respectively, as they discover the evil and supernatural secrets of the house they have just moved in to.

Spoiler Alert! The shows first episode opens with a man inserting a key magically into his chest.
After this, the Locke family move to a new house in Matheson, Massachusetts, leaving behind their home in Seattle after the patriarch Rendell Locke is killed by Sam Lesser (one of Tyler’s schoolmates).
The children slowly realize that the family members are not the only ones living in the house. The kids find keys like the one shown in the cold open and unlocking doors magically. They soon find out that a demonic entity in the house also wants the keys for its own vile purposes.
After the evils that are after the Locke family are revealed, the kids team up to save their mother (Darby Stanchfield as Nina Locke) and unlock the mystery of the Keyhouse.
The protagonists battle with Dodge, the demon throughout the first season.
Connor Jessup, Emilia Jones, Felix Mallard, and Jackson Robert Scott are the central characters of the show around which the plot revolves, and they have put in fascinating performances. They depict the intrigue and fear that comes with discovering evil in the most entertaining way.
In a similar fashion, Darby Stanchfield is Nina Locke on the show, and she portrays the mother of the family. She is caring and living but is an alcoholic.
Nina also wants to protect her family at all costs. She was warned beforehand that she should move to Keyhouse if anything was to happen to her husband.
Laysla De Oliveira portrays the antagonist of the show as she is the demon, Dodge. She is also a love interest of Tyler, and De Oliveira plays the role of a menacing aura.
Griffin Gluck was cast as Gabe, a student at Matheson Academy, his character later become pivotal to the plot because of the Identity Key.
The show has gotten a 7.5 rating out of 10 on IMDb. Each episode has been rated more than 7, and the average rating is around 7.5 on IMDb.
It has also gathered above average rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Similarly, the show has been rated 4/5 on Common Sense media.
Spoiler Alert!! The protagonists send Dodge through the Black Door, but it was revealed that Dodge used the identity key to disguise herself as Gabe on the finale of the show.
Closing scenes of the episode show Gabe (Dodge in reality) sitting in a diner with the kids’ classmate Eden who was also possessed by another Demon when they opened the Black Door. In fact, Dodge was also created when the Black Door was formerly opened.
The second season will revolve around this mystery and increase the struggle pf the kids as they now have to face two demons instead of one.
